Chapter One Getting Ready

Hi, I'm Chelsea!

My family is getting ready for a big holiday.

It's called Chinese New Year.

Dad says it is China's most important holiday.

Some people celebrate it in the United States too.

Like me!

第一章 做准备

大家好,我是切尔西，

我的家人们正在为一个很重要的节日做准备，

那就是春节。

爸爸说那是中国最重要的节日。

有些人在美国也庆祝，

比如我！

We sure are busy right now.

We're cleaning last year's bad luck out of our house.

Then we're going to buy new red clothes.

Dad says red is for good luck.

我们现在确实很忙。

我们打扫屋子把去年的坏运气赶走。

然后我们回去买红色的新衣服。

爸爸说红色可以带来好运。

Chapter Two A Late Night

We've work hard to get ready.

Now it's the night before Chinese New Year.

Even kids get to stay up really late tonight.

Last year, I fell asleep too early.

This year, I want to stay awake for all the fun.

第二章 熬夜

我们费了很大的功夫去做准备。

现在是除夕夜，

即使是孩子们都做好了熬夜的准备。

去年我睡的太早了，

今年我要熬夜去做所有有趣的事情。

We are at my grandparents' house

for this big night.

There are uncles, aunts, and cousins everywhere.

We talk and play games.

All these laughing helps me keep my eyes open.

我们在外公外婆家度过这个重要的夜晚。

叔叔阿姨，表哥表姐都在那里。

我们一起聊天、玩游戏。

这些笑声能够帮助我保持清醒。

We have a big feast.

There's fish and lots of other food.

Then everybody makes dumplings.

They're like little cooked pillows

with yummy stuff inside.

I can't wait to eat them at midnight.

我们有一个盛大的美食宴。

有鱼肉，也有其他的食物，很多很多。

然后大家一起包饺子。

它们就像一个个可爱的小枕头一样，

里面装着美味的食物。

我已经等不及要去吃它们了！

Boom! Pop! Firecrackers snap.

Fireworks light the sky.

It's midnight.

Chinese New Year is here, and I'm still awake.

隆隆！鞭炮啪啪作响。

烟花点亮了夜空，是午夜到了。

春节到来了，而我也还醒着。

Chapter Three Still More Fun

I finally fall asleep.

In the morning,

Mom and Dad give me a red envelope.

Money falls out when I open it up.

Chinese New Year really is a lucky time!

我最终还是睡着了。

第二天早上

爸爸妈妈给了我一个红色的小信封，

我打开以后钱掉了出来。

春节真的是幸运的时刻！

Chinese New Year doesn't stop after one day.

We keep celebrating!

We wear our new clothes.

We take presents to friends and family.

We try to be very good.

This starts the year out right.

春节不是一天就结束了，

我们会继续庆祝！

我们会穿着新衣服。

我们会带着礼物拜访亲朋好友，

我们会非常友好，

这一整年我们都会很和谐。

Chapter Four Parade!

Chinese New Year ends with a big parade.

My favorite part is the dragon.

Dad says dragons are lucky too.

I guess Chinese New Year is finally over.

But I have enough luck to last until next year!

春节快要结束的时候会有一个很大的游行。

舞龙是我最喜欢的环节，

爸爸说龙也是吉祥物。

我觉得春节差不多要结束了.

但是我已经有了足够多的好运气

直到明年的春节！
